TAYLOR CUSTOM GRAND AUDITORIUM - HAND SELECTED KOA BACK AND SIDES, LUTZ SPRUCE TOP, ES2 PICKUP

In June we got a RARE opportunity to tour the Taylor factory and select wood with Taylor CEO Andy Powers! 

It was an amazing experience and we picked an amazing Koa set with Andy!  

We started with the classic gamechanging Grand Auditorium (GA) size.  This is the shape that put Taylor on the map!   The perfect blend of balance and power.  

We spent a long time sorting through the Hawaiian Koa wood sets, waiting for something to speak to us.  We were taken with the strong striping and abundant flame of this piece.  It rang out and was the perfect size for us.  

Talking with Andy, we decided that Lutz Spruce would be the perfect top wood for this.  Plenty of projection and would really enrich the mids on this instrument.   Lutz is a naturally occurring hybrid of White Spruce and Sitka.

We went understated with the aesthetics.  We felt the wood would do the 'talking'.  A single ring of Abalone around the soundhole,  gorgeous Progressive Diamonds on the fretboard and subtle yet striking Crelicam Ebony binding on the body.   

We of course added ES2 electronics because this guitar should get out and be seen and heard!
